about me

hi! I'm Vie Richards, a 21-year old, trans digital artist based between Edinburgh and London. I am self-taught, and have been drawing since I was about 5 years old; my comics-making began with me drawing the adventures of my Year 5 friends and I, defeating our headmistress with magical powers.

artistically, I mostly enjoy character design and comics-based storytelling (it took me an embarrassingly long time to work out that I could draw stories, rather than inflicting my godawful prose on people). I'm massively inspired by graphic novels, Gothic and horror literature, and my local drag and queer communities.

I've been lucky enough to be involved in local projects, including selling art at Edinburgh's Kafe Kweer and the queer vending machine project, BEND.R, and working with Trans Pride Scotland and Shut Up and King to provide queer-focused textiles workshops. I'm also a drag king, and I feel like this has really informed my illustration, and vice versa. My partner, august (in the wake of) dawn, and I are currently working on a collection of short horror stories, which I can't wait to share with you!
